Welcome Principal Garcia

Dear Aromas School Community,

It is with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself as the new principal of Aromas School. My name is Edith Garcia, and I am truly honored to join a community rooted in connection, tradition, and a strong commitment to student success.

I bring a wide range of experience in education, having served as a teacher in both the Elementary and Middle School level as well as Assistant Principal at both Azusa High School and South East High School. In these roles, I supported instructional programs, led professional development, supervised departments, and worked closely with students, staff, and families to improve outcomes for all learners.
I have also managed school operations including attendance systems, testing coordination, and school-wide initiatives, always with a focus on creating safe, organized, and student-centered environments.

In addition to my administrative experience, I have served as an English Learner Coach and as a Categorical Programs Advisor. In these roles, I partnered with teachers to strengthen classroom instruction, supported the implementation of effective strategies for English learners, and used data to guide decision-making and improve student achievement. I have facilitated professional development, led data discussions, supported reclassification efforts, and worked to increase meaningful parent engagement through workshops and advisory committees. My work has consistently centered on ensuring equity, access, and high expectations for every student.

My commitment to education is deeply personal. As the child of immigrants, I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley in a hardworking family that instilled in me the values of perseverance, resilience, and the importance of education. I experienced firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with navigating multiple languages and cultures, and those experiences continue to shape my dedication to supporting all students, especially those who are developing their language skills. I believe every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential.

As a parent of children currently in elementary school, I understand the importance of trust, communication, and a nurturing school environment. I know how meaningful it is for families to feel connected to their child's school and confident in the care and education their children receive each day. This perspective drives my commitment to building strong partnerships with families and ensuring open, ongoing communication.

At Aromas School, I look forward to listening, learning, and collaborating with all members of the community. My goal is to build on the school's strengths while continuing to grow opportunities for all students. I am committed to fostering a positive and inclusive environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged, and where staff feel valued and empowered in their work.
